Apprenticeships

Earn while you learn.

Apprenticeships combine work and study, leading to nationally recognised qualifications, offering a great mix of hands-on learning in the workplace and theory learned with us at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group. They will provide you with relevant skills, behaviours, and knowledge you’ll need to thrive in the working world!

Why choose an Apprenticeship?

Links with top employers

We work with a variety of different employers, ranging from small to large, who offer great opportunities to ‘earn while you learn’.

Earn while you learn

As an apprentice, you’ll work for an employer, and you will earn a wage. The minimum wage for an apprentice is £7.55 per hour.

Higher level progression

You can progress to a higher-level apprenticeship or to a university level course.

Safe & supported

There is wide-ranging support at College and in the workplace, with well-established safeguarding procedures.

The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group offers apprenticeships from Level 2 to Level 5, within a wide range of industry areas. Durations are determined by the level and industry area but range from 1 to 4 years. College attendance varies dependent on the industry area, with taught elements being delivered both face-to-face and remotely, on a day release or block release basis. Some programmes require no college attendance (other than for exams) and are delivered in the workplace by a designated assessor.

On the 1st August 2025, the new Foundation Apprenticeships will launch in England.

We will be offering Foundation Apprenticeships in:

  • Onsite Trades Foundation Apprenticeship (Construction)
  • Health & Social Care Foundation Apprenticeship (Health & Education)

To become an apprentice you need an employer. If you already have a prospective employer, please contact the Apprenticeship Recruitment Team to discuss further or find an employer who is recruiting apprentices.

Some employers do approach us regarding vacancies and those vacancies can be found here or submit a copy of your CV to apprenticeships@heartofyorkshire.ac.uk which we can share directly with employers who are looking to recruit an apprentice.
