Our Foundation Learning Department enables students with SEND to progress onto positive outcomes.

Foundation Learning covers a variety of highly supported, personalised learning pathways that enable students with SEND to progress into positive outcomes and develop the skills they need to live rich, meaningful lives.

Positive outcomes may include the next steps into further education, apprenticeships or supported internships, paid employment, volunteering and independent living. The curriculum offers a wide range of experiences for students to work towards Preparing for Adulthood outcomes, develop skills towards independence, improve communication skills, make healthy, safe choices and contribute to the community and society.

With a focus on Preparation for Adulthood, this highly supported programme supports learners to engage in the world around them by building independence in adult life, confidence, resilience, independent living skills and personal and social development.

FLEX Vocational, Options, Tasters and Employability (VOTE)

With a focus on employability skills and Preparation for Adulthood, this programme supports learners to develop their personal, social and employability skills through classroom learning, practical activities, educational trips and visits and a range of vocational tasters.

Get SET

The Get SET course is a work-based learning programme, wih a focus on employability skills, that prepares learners for the world of work. Working in partnership with a number of local employers, learners are supported to demonstrate behaviours and attitudes in line with employer expectations.

Project SEARCH

This Supported Internship programme is aimed at young people aged 18-24 with an EHCP who aspire to paid employment. Working with a tutor and a job coach, interns will have the opportunity to learn essential skills within a real working environment.
