Course Overview

As the Construction and Built Environment industry moves into a new technological era, it is essential that people working in the industry enhance their digital skills. Building Information Modelling (BIM) involves creating and using intelligent 3D models to develop and communicate project decisions. It’s a whole new way of working, and it is predicated that within a decade it will be integral to the construction industry.

This short course in the implementation of BIM is aimed at enabling someone to understand how to implement BIM within a construction company.

You will learn through classroom activity in one of our designated IT suites.

What You Will Study

You will gain knowledge of fundamental concepts associated with BIM and develop an understanding of the drivers leading to BIM implementation, the barriers to success and the benefits that can be gained.

You can then build on this with the underpinning knowledge and understanding needed to support decision making, to plan the introduction of BIM in an organisation, and the requirements of BIM tenders.

With this you will study three units:

  • Fundamentals of BIM
  • Planning BIM implementation
  • BIM project implementation

One day over five consecutive weeks.

External exam where short answers will be required.

No formal entry requirements.

This course may be funded for adult learners with a West Yorkshire post code.

Alternatively, the fee is £TBC
