Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

Course Overview
This course is aimed at Candidates who work or want to work in Early years settings in roles such as Early Years assistant, Preschool assistant, Playgroup assistant, After school assistant, Childminder assistant,
Childminder, etc.
What You Will Study
Candidates will cover units such as:
- Child development
- Safeguarding
- Exploring roles and development opportunities in early years settings
- Supporting health and safety
- Promoting wellbeing in early years settings
- Effective communication
- Supporting activities purposeful to play and educational programmes
- Understanding how to support children with special educational needs
- Working with parents, colleagues and other professionals.
Opportunities to develop skills and confidence, teamwork, and professional practice.
Meet with assessor on teams – every 5 weeks to plan and review learning.
3x observations of practice
Written assignments/workbooks, portfolio of evidence, observation of practice.
Candidates need to be working or volunteering at least 16 hours each week in an Early Years setting.
Ideally Maths and English GCSE/ Level 1 or above.
Funded through AEB when in receipt of benefits/universal credit.
Progression to Level 3 Early Years Educator.
